Abstract: Takayasu Arthritis (TA) is a
rare chronic granulomatous large vessel
vaculitis, rarely diagnosed in first decade of
life. A 9 year old female child presented to
us with multiple episode of generalized
convulsions and encephalopathy. B/L upper
limb low volume pulse and low BP, B/L
lower limb good volume pulse and high
blood pressure, papilledema of both eye on
examination, early diastolic murmur in
mitral area and Doppler study showed
sluggish flow in both upper limb vesssels,
MRA showed stenosis of both subclavian,
vertebral(cervical part) and CCA. Case
diagnosed as Takayasu Arteritis, mild AR
and hypertensive encephalopathy. Patient
was put on steroids, on follow up blood
pressure was not under control and referred
for angioplasty. Here we report case TA at
9 year of age presenting hypertensive
encephalopathy.
